About AwA

From Raw Wounds to the Awakening of Essence

My name is Reildo Souza, and my journey didn't begin in comfortable consulting rooms. It started in the brutal contrast of the streets of Salvador, Brazil, and in the painful silence of a wounded body.

I grew up in a city of stunning beauty, yet one marked by an inequality that I felt on my skin—literally. From childhood and throughout my adolescence, I faced a severe skin disease that turned my life into a battlefield.

There were nights when I would wake up with the sheets stuck to open wounds; peeling them off was a ritual of pain that no one should have to know so young. I loved to surf, but during my most critical moments, the ocean I so desperately sought became a bath of acid on my raw flesh.

Judgment and the Turning Point

Beyond the physical pain, I carried the weight of the world's gaze. I saw the disgust and judgment on people's faces. The "noise" of society—the constant voice that demands absolute perfection—tried to convince me that I was defective. I reached my limit. Facing the abyss, I considered suicide.

But it was in that moment of total darkness that I found the way out. I realized I had a choice: to be destroyed by the world’s "Amnesia" or to use Critical Thinking to question the standards that were crushing me, and Empathy to forgive the insensitivity of others.

The Mission: Angel with Amnesia

Today, based in Los Angeles, I serve as a Holistic Therapist, international speaker, and mentor. My practice of over 20 years is grounded in real scars and a rigorous study of the human mind—integrating Jungian Depth Psychology, Positive Psychology, and Mindfulness.

I created the AwA Project (Angel with Amnesia) because I realized that humanity is living through the same process I did: we are distracted by social noise, forgetting our essential goodness (the Angel), and falling ill by trying to fit into unrealistic molds.

What I Do: I help individuals navigate their own "sea of acid." I use my experience to teach how to educate empathy and strengthen critical thinking, transforming vulnerability into an unshakeable strength that is independent of external validation.

"True healing didn't come only from a medicine, but from the radical acceptance that my essence is untouchable by the judgment of the world."
