Today, I want to connect something we all talk about—bullying—with some incredibly deep insights from the book, Angel with Amnesia by Reildo Souza. It's wild how sociologists call bullying "dominance behavior", right? They see it as people trying to overpower others, just like the alpha male mentality in the animal kingdom.
The book's philosophy gives us the blueprint for why this happens and, more importantly, how we beat it.
The Root Cause: Egoism as Dominance
The core takeaway from all the experts is that bullying is an imbalance of power. The aggressor wants to win and see you lose, seeking control.
This perfectly aligns with the book’s central idea that egoism (or selfishness) is humanity’s "virus of separation" and a normalized addiction.
- The Bully's Drive: The bully is operating purely from the Involuted Ego. Their aggression and need for dominance are simply the Ego's incessant pursuit of power and external validation. The high they get from seeing you hurt is the "rush" that feeds their addiction.
- The Power Trap: When you respond to hate with anger—saying "Shut up!" or "You're hurting my feelings!"—the aggressor loves it. You’re giving them what they want; you’re feeding their Ego. The more upset you get, the more they win.
Winning the Game: The Evolved Self's Strategy
So, how do we stop feeding that ego? The book and the anti-bullying experts agree: by
activating your higher self.
The solution isn't abstract; it's a simple game about winning and losing. You win by not getting upset.

This non-reaction is the practical application of the book's path to the Evolved Self.
- Cultivate Resilience: The key is building resilience, emotional strength, and mental toughness. If a bully says, "I hate your guts," and you respond with, "That's nice", you’ve stripped their words of power. You’ve demonstrated the bully's words don't have control over you.
- Practice Wu-Wei: The Taoist concept of Wu-Wei means "effortless action," or acting without resistance. By refusing to engage in the emotional fight, you practice Wu-Wei. You conserve your vital energy and align with your inner wisdom instead of the Ego's impulsive reaction.
- Activate Empathy and Critical Thinking: Use the book's two essential tools: - Critical Thinking: Use it to question the bully's narrative—it's just someone attempting to have power over you. You can consciously choose a different script.
- Empathy: The book teaches us that those trapped in the Ego are wounded. Recognizing the bully's "dominance behavior" as their own sickness allows you to neutralize your reaction from within.

When the bully doesn't see you lose, they lose. They don't like playing a game where they lose, so they leave you alone.
The Ultimate Growth: Self-Empowerment
The best part of this strategy is the internal transformation.
The ultimate goal is to empower yourself to solve your own social problems. When you successfully handle the challenge for yourself, you experience growth in three core areas:

- Self-Esteem
- Self-Confidence
- Self-Worth
In the language of Angel with Amnesia, this is the Journey of Individuation —the process of achieving the Self. By taking responsibility for your own emotional state, you become the "Architect of Tomorrow" in your own life.
It's about fostering enduring self-reliance and reconnecting with your true essence—remembering you are an "Angel with Amnesia" — a divine being whose happiness is not dependent on the hateful words of others.
The final word: remember to differentiate between verbal bullying and physical assault! Emotional toughness is for words; if someone punches you, that is assault and battery and a crime that requires protection.
But for those emotional attacks, you have the power to win the game.
